Does The Fear Of Being Ripped Off Keep You From Making Money Online?

You probably knew you had something to worry about, but… did you know that digital theft is over a 39-Billion – that’s BILLION with a “B” Billion – that’s BILLION with a “B” – per year business?  Sure… a good part of that is attributed to music downloads, but digital products such as eBooks is also a big piece of that business.  Something tells me you do NOT want to fall victim yourself.

It does get worse Refund requests are at all time high. Meaning if someone did go through the trouble to actually purchase your eBook and then ask for a refund you’re out the money while they still have access to your product. Boo-hoo!

AND… More than 23% of internet users (who isn’t an internet user) thinks it’s perfectly okay to “share” something they purchased with their friends and family.  That’s the same product you were paid once for, but John or Jane Doe shared with someone, and they shared with someone and so on, and so on.

There is plenty to be fearful of, no doubt. Often times clients ask me about how best to protect their products, and they can become so fearful that they don’t finish their eBook because they’re paralyzed by the fear of being ripped off.  That’s just plain sad.

There are different philosophies on this topic, and I’ve probably heard them all.  One is that even if you print a physical book or produce a CD people can still share by copying those files.  Sure, it’s a little harder to do – not so convenient, so it’s probably not as common as digital products, but it’s very possible.  Another is that I’m not going to worry about someone sharing my information to the point where I’m not going to produce my product. I’ll put it out there, and those that pay, pay and those that don’t will have to live with themselves – and there’s something about Karma in there.

Actually, you don’t have to go either of those routes.  You can effectively protect your eBooks , and you can use very simple and NO-cost methods to very elaborate systems.   My partner, Ellen Violette, The eBook Coach, and I saw a real need for this type of information.  We spent many hours researching and compiling the information so you don’t have to.  We have revealed how to QUICKLY and EASILY protect your eBooks from theft online using 12 proven low and no-cost strategies.

Delivering Your eBooks Online

You might not have thought of this yet, but… once you have an eBook for sale what’s next – how are you going to get it out there for the world to purchase AND how will you deliver it without creating an administrative nightmare?

First, you have a couple of options for compiling your eBook. The most common are PDF files (Adobe Acrobat) and exe files (executable).  If you’re interested in simple then go with the PDF file.  If you’re interested in a more polished and elaborate eBook, go with the .exe file.

By email attachment – this would be the most simple form of delivery, but… if you sell more than a few (and I hope you do) this will not work for long without a LOT of administrative time.

By email link – much better (the file will be on your server for download), but… again this can become a daunting task. That is unless you have an automated system that provides for an autoresponder system.

Download page – you can direct people to a web page to download the product they just purchased, but… what if they do not reach the page because of technical issues or do not bookmark the page for future reference.

Any of the above will work. I highly suggest having an automated system. AND… I highly recommend you have some form of protection so that you do not lose sales by purchasers sharing your information among their family and friends OR asking for a refund and keeping your eBook.

Armand Morin’s eBook Internet Marketing Quick Tips From The Virtual eBook Expo CD

There is so much you can do with an exe ebook that you can’t do with a pdf. And while there are times when a pdf makes good sense, there is just so much more you can do with an exe ebook.

Plus with web 2.0 it’s the interactivity of exe ebooks that make them so exciting in today’s market. Here are some insights and tips from Armand Morin from The Virtual eBook Expo CD…..

“People lose it when it comes to Internet marketing and when it comes to dealing with customers. They think too much about the process. The objective for the customer is to NOT think-we don’t want our customers to think whatsovever. We just want them to do exactly what we want them to do. And we think so much that we make it complicated for our customers.”

“When they open up your ebook it should be very apparant what to do. You should not actually NEED instructions even though you should always give instructions…it should be a no brainer.”

When you create an exe ebook, “on that first page and this is what we do: we would actually put in an opt-in page on the first page of the ebook. That’s where we collect the name… and primary email address so we know that they read it and at this particular point if we don’t have any other method, this tells us exactly who read the ebook.”

“What we can do with that information is give them lifetime free upgrades to our ebook and it doesn’t cost us anything to do this. Or at least give a place they can click to go into an opt-in page. But you get more people if you do it right in the ebook.”

You can also ask a series of questions-rememeber it’s the ebook that is asking these questions and as your customer answers each one of those question “all of the content automatically changes and we use their name throughout the whole (e)book-making the message much more powerful”-it’s a custom experience for the end user.

The more custom the experience the more your customers will enjoy the experience and share it with others creating an organic viral campaign that will create more ebook buyers and leads for your business. So definitely think about adding exe ebooks to your business.

How To Get Started eBook Marketing Without A Website

Ultimately you need a website. But the best way to get started without a website is to market off of a blog.  It takes about 5 minutes to get a blog up and running.. If you want to, you can hire a web person to customize it. I paid $45 to have mine customized. You can sell your ebook off your site but if you are a newbie I suggest giving it away, building credibility and a list for bigger profits down the road.

You can also get it listed in Amazon and other ebook stores and then create free materials that send people to those sites such as blog posts, articles, pod casts, and videos to purchase there.
